I have been meaning to do this for some while but other tasks seem to take priority.
March continues to be a busy month with most of my time spent on preparing for a textile exhibition taking place in June. I am a member of a textile group called RAWEdge. There are 6 of us and we are exhibiting at the Guildhall in Thaxted, Essex. Two more months to go and things are hotting up. Our mentor, Alex Waylett, is hot on our heels!
The garden is also beckoning and even though a gardener has helped me there is still a lot of work to be done. Good job I love doing it. Looking forward to buying some new plants and also to be surprised at what rears its head from the undergrowth.
I went to see All Too Human at Tate Britain with a old work colleague last week. Really enjoyed most of it, Francis Bacon has never been a favourite of mine. There were quite a few artists that were new to me so that was interesting. I particularly liked the early work of Lucian Freud where he used fine brushes in his work creating such delicate detail. Paula Rego is another favourite. I am looking forward to going to the Picasso exhibition with my daughter next month.
The biggest challenge for me this month was to settle my poor old mum into a local care home. She went off to the Red House last Sunday. It is a well regarded home with a good rating by the CQC. I have visited a few times and she is finding it difficult, with some days better than others. She is 97 next month so has done remarkably well to avoid going into care up until now.
Easter is looming, I must avoid Easter Eggs at all costs. I will just keep looking at my latest purchase - The Dirty Diet by Kate Harrison. I am a fan of the 5:2 diet and this is a bit like that.
A wannabe artist - textiles, ceramics, watercolour. Anything creative makes me happy. I live in Suffolk with Max, my ginger moggy!
